So I really like the location of our home. Nice small neighborhood, big backyard, and the beautiful field which makes our yard look even bigger :) The only problem with our location at the back of the neighborhood, as far as I can tell, is that we are the only house hooked up to the power pole. So that means that when something happens to knock out the power for that pole we are the only ones in the whole neighborhood who don't have any power. And for some reason or another, I think that the stupid transformer box? (looks like a cylinder to me) is faulty. We have had our power go out so many times during the past year it is ridiculous. None of those times has our neighbors lost power, only us. In fact I cannot think of a single time when our neighbors have lost power since I moved here almost 2 years ago.
The reason for this rant is that on Saturday night/Sunday morning between 12 am and 2:30 am our power went out. We found the latest bill to call to get it restored and... "We're sorry, none of our representives are able to answer at this time. Please call again later." So Nick tried at 3 and 4:30 and 5 and 7:30 and each time got the same recording. Finally at about 8 we called the parents and had them look up a number for us online. Lo and Behold, it was a different number. Yes, our power is out. So, finally at about 12 pm our power was restored. Yay, happy ending right? NOT. I'm feeding the baby at 5 this morning and hear a huge POP and what happens? Power is out again. You have got to be kidding me! Hello, our power is out again and we just called yesterday and we don't want to call you ever again. This time they were more prompt and we got it back in two hours.
So, since the hubby was unable to call the utility company (stupid work, always getting in the way), my dad called and was able to find out that they replaced our transformer and got us a direct number to call in case anything happens again. They also said that the neighbors across the street are on the same pole as us but they are wrong. I don't know how many times when we have not had our power, looking longingly across the street at their lights and wishing for electricty.
Hopefully now we will have a happy ending with no more power outages unless there is a major storm and everyone else loses power. If I have to suffer, I don't want to be the only one!

Hmm...
So I usually just plop down my finished dishes after my meal for the cats to get whatever they want off of them. And only recently did I realize that I was doing the same thing with Kaleb's leftover rice cereal bowl which is made with breast milk. I am unsure how I feel about doing this. On one hand, I feel a tiny bit weird about it and on the other hand, Neko seems to enjoy it very much. In fact when he notices that I'm feeding Kaleb, he will come over and wait for the baby to be done, which makes it hard to feed Kaleb because he wants to watch the kitty. The cat is even cleaning out the bowl when I add veggies to it. Tonight was green beans. Yesterday was sweet potatoes. Each night a cleaned out bowl. Hmm...

Rodents
So I have four cats. Four mostly good cats who are also good hunters. I would say that almost everyday I have some new "offering" that one of the cats has brought me and sometimes more than one. Maybe because we don't feed them as often as they would like, they think that there is a food supply problem or something. And yet in spite of having four good hunters living with me, we still have a rodent problem inside the house. Although maybe that is because everywhere we have found signs of these rodents, it is in a place the cats cannot reach.
We have managed to catch four mice in our house - 2 with a sticky trap not half an hour after we put it out and 2 because they were trying to live inside our sub-woofer (ick), and still there is something here. I was sitting in my living room, surfing the web, when I heard something on my stove going after some pizza crust I hadn't thrown out yet. Of course I couldn't get a glimpse of it and it is driving me insane knowing that it was walking around where I prepare food. We have set out traps, both the sticky and kind that snaps, and put peanut butter on the one. The food is disappearing without the trap snapping shut. It is very frustrating trying to figure out some way of getting this "thing".

Something New
So, I've been thinking that I seem to have lots to say but I don't want to always be calling peoples up all the time - which I do to my mother - I thought that maybe since we have the internet now at home I would try this out. I have found that I do like to read other blogs and see what is going on with my friends and family.
Sounds like Kaleb woke up and is just playing in his bassinet. He doesn't usually do that, usually he cries until he can hear me talking to him as I'm coming to get him. This is very cute to listen to.
